I couldn't find anything anywhere talking about how to do this before purchasing. But after I bought it I found an article on the TP-Link website that says to make this work just don't plug anything into the WAN port. Plug your ethernet cables all into the LAN side, then setup wifi and disable the WAN functionality. I use it in a 3,000 sq ft home and I have excellent Wi-Fi coverage inside and out. I have successfully steamed video and gamed with both Xbox and PS3 without buffering issues at a distance of approximately 25 to 30 feet from the router. That being said, this is standard compressed HD content and not 4K so I can not say with absolute certainty that it with work for you, due to Wi-Fi being subject to operating and environmental conditions. Port forwarding for successfully gaming seems to be on a case by case basis, I have setup gaming consoles with networks that require forwarding and I have setup the same hardware that does not require it. I can tell you that in my case it was not necessary to port forward this router so I guess I can tell with certainty that "Your results may vary". In the event you need to set forwarding there are very good instructional videos on YouTube. Best of luck with your Tech upgrade ! see less
