Q:Is the Roomba able to cross transition strips on wooden floors (i.e., those strips of wood that are in some doorways that divide rooms)?
A:yes...we have a strip that goes from wood to tile (tile was put in before) that is a good 1/2 to 1 inch step & it just does fine. Roombas are nice to set & let it do it's thing (especially for under beds) but I do still like getting a reg. vacuum out once in awhile.
Q:How does the Roomba do around lamp and telephone cords?
A:Our Roomba will go right over things like cords. The problem is, she's really good at vacuuming so sometimes the cords either get caught and she stops, or she yanks on them and pulls lamps and telephones off tables. So we've done two things to combat: 1) we got some 3M strips for cords and hung them up so they're out o…

So we've done two things to combat: 1) we got some 3M strips for cords and hung them up so they're out of her way and 2) we've used the lighthouses/haloes so she avoids areas like under the computer desk where there are a lot of cords. It's much more worth it to have a Roomba and spend an hour Roomba-proofing the house than it is to vacuum.

Q:can this machine vacuum hard wood floors?
A:Yes. It does a good job with hard wood floors. We have a golden retriever that sheds a lot and its nice to not see clumps of hair on our hard wood floors.
Q:Is this vacuum good enough that you don't ever need to manually vacuum? Please describe your floor situation (hard wood, carpet, etc), as well.
A:I think so! We have hardwood with some area rugs and it's been our sole vacuum for just about a month. We'll likely need to pull out the Electrolux just to vacuum off the bricks on our woodstove hearth, but I really can't fault the Roomba for not getting in the deep mortar joints on our brick work. Q:How big is the storage compartment? Is it easy to empty?

Pull out the tray from the front, empty it and slide it back in until it snaps. When in place, it looks like part of the machine. I love mine...... !!! So glad I got it. Saves me a lot of work.

Q:How noisy is it?
A:Noisy if it's on hardwood. We have it turn on when we're at work so it's not an issue.
Q:Does the Roomba work well in small crowded apartments with odd angles?
A:Angles aren't a problem at all because the Roomba can follow walls and the edges of furniture. While it does have some degree of logic, it pretty much just bounces off every surface in every direction until it gets the job done. I have a small apartment with too much furniture and it rarely has issues. Once in a while,…

While it does have some degree of logic, it pretty much just bounces off every surface in every direction until it gets the job done. I have a small apartment with too much furniture and it rarely has issues. Once in a while, I'll find it stranded and out of charge at the far end of the apartment but that's most likely because I don't have a lighthouse for it to find its way home reliably. Aside from that, I'd say it works well in any space as long as there aren't things on the floor that can get wrapped around the rollers. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made and I will absolutely buy another one when Roombie croaks.

Q:Is it quiet?
A:Yes, when comparing to a regular vacuum. But no, it's annoying if you are staying in the same room with it. It makes mechanical noises and bumps around. I ususally close the door, or go to a different room or floor when it is doing its job. You can also just turn it on when you are going out.
Q:Does the Roomba cleans any type of carpet?
A:It performs similar to how a broom and dustpan would work on a carpet.
Q:How does it get the corners of the room clean since the iRobot is round?
A:It's got this little brush that extends out from it that rotates and sweeps corners. Trust me I was skeptical at first but it does a great job.
Q:Will it clean different rooms on its own, or will I have to move it to each individual area that I want it to clean? (kitchen, living/dining rooms?)
A:Roomba will clean your whole house, or as much as it can do on one charge. A charge last about 2 hours, so Roomba can do my whole (one story 3 bedroom) home on one charge. You can also set it to spot clean a certain area when needed. As long as there are no stairs in between, Roomba moves itself from room to room.
Q:How long has the life of the battery lasted before needing a replacement?
A:I'm new to roomba but my daughter has had one for years, and has never had to replace the battery.
Q:Can program scheduling be set only on weekdays but not on weekends when I'm home?
A:You can program it which way you want. For example monday 2 pm tuesday 5 pm not on wednesday etc. :)
Q:Will it pick up small dried leaves which always seems to be in our house carried from the outside Oaks?
A:Mine picks up everything, no matter what! Our cat loves playing with those rubber bands that are covered and are for pony tails. She leaves them all over the house and I have to continually take them out of my Roomba. So, if it picks up those, and it picks up the long white cat hair, yep, it will pick up those leaves.
Q:How is the maintenance on cleaning this thing when you have cats? Had an early-gen Roomba and I spent more time cleaning it than I would vacuuming
A:While we have a non shedding dog that has not been the case for us. I have cleaned out the filters once (banging out the dust) other than that nothing really over the last 5 months. Hope this helps.
Q:Does it get stuck with dog hair?
A:No, but I'm finding that it gets filled up pretty quickly picking up after our shepherd mix. We ask a lot of our 770 and, while there's room for improvement, it's still been well worth the money after having it for six months.
Q:If the battery runs low before finishing cleaning on a scheduled clean, will it return to the dock, re-charge, then finish the job on it's own?
A:It docks, but does not finish the job after charging. You have to relaunch it. Most of the time it needs to be emptied anyway at that point
Q:Does the 'soft touch' feature really work or do I need one of those bumpers (e.g., foam, felt, etc.) that other people install to protect furniture?
A:Hello,So far, i have no issues with the "Soft Touch" feature. Around the Robot is rubber so that protects your funiture.
Q:can it vaccum rugs with a fringe on the ends without the fringe getting tangled?
A:I have 2 rugs with fringes and there has not been a problem
Q:how does it handle larger dirt? Leaves for example?
A:it will pick them up but usually has to go over them a few times. I find it does better on larger things as opposed to threads and things like that.
Q:I am in China how does it work in 220V? Thanks.
A:Answer this question
Q:Does anyone know how the Roomba 770 does in picking up kitty litter?
A:It picks up dry kitty litter fine. If it's wet, things could get messy.
Q:How easily/frequently does hair wrap around the brushes on this model? I'm more worried about my hair than the cat's cat hair causing problems.
A:We have had no problems with hair. Once or twice we have got it caught called up in an iPhone cord or something of that nature. Hair has never been a problem although we deal more with pet hair than human hair. We have found this unit to be performing very well.
Q:Finidng home base?
A:Yes, about 8 out of 10 times. Usually gets stuck in closet when the door closes on itself.
Q:How often should you change brushes & filters?
A:According to iRobot website change filters every 2 months "regular" use but I dont see a definition of " regular". I end up cleaning the brushes once a month or sooner if I see they are really clogged with hair, using the plastic tools provided, mostly the flat one rather than the round one. It's a bit time consuming if you do it right, but I consider it part of the routine maintenance.Regarding the filters, I have not even used the replacement set of filters that came with the robot yet. So far I simply clean the filters under running water for 10-15sec and let them dry overnight. I do it every couple of months. When I clean the filters, I also clean the dustbin under running water. You could simply wipe it with a wet rag if you are not comfortable with running water. Make sure to shake it and let it dry before putting it back.

There is no 660 listed (old model?) but my 770 has both optical and acoustic sensors for debris while the 650 is just acoustic. The 770 has HEPA filtration while the 650 does not and the 770 has the AeroVac Series 2 dust bin: "Standard Bin vacuums dirt, dust and crumbs off your floor. AeroVac Series 2 Bin holds more debris than Standard and vigorously pulls debris and hair off brushes into the bin." I diddled for quite a while before pulling the trigger on the 770, but I'm happy with my purchase.

There is a light that will come on to let you know the dust bin is full and needs to be emptied. You should empty it promptly. I clean out the bin each time I run my vacuum whether the light is on or not. I have taken it completely apart and cleaned it thoroughly only twice. Carpet threads or animal hair can get wound around the roller and you have to remove it in order for the unit to do its job. Mine started making a funny noise and when I checked I found that the roller needed to be cleaned. When I got everything unwound from the roller, it was fine again. I think if maintained properly, it should last quite a long time. I would not want to be without mine ... I love it.

Q:How do I get my dog used to the roomba? She goes crazy everytime
A:Your dog will get used to it. My cat was cautious at first, but too curious to run away. Now he watches it and only moves when it heads for him. How about distracting your dog with a few treats when the Roomba first starts up? That might be an effective distraction.
Q:I have an Australian Shephard who sheds a TON. How does it handle puffs of dog hair?
A:My dog is a shepherd/lab mix. We live in Texas, and I run him 5 miles a day.He sheds a bunch! He doesn't have tufts, but I could not live without it.Hope that helps.
Q:What about water or any other liquid on the floor?
A:It said not to get it wet on the instructions, and it has knocked over dog bowl and been ok. But it doesn't pick it up.
Q:How big is the bin compared to a normal vacuum cleaners bin? is there a size specification as to the volume of the trash bin?
A:Answer this question
Q:When should I replace stuff on my iRobot Roomba 770? Like the brushes and filters.
A:Answer this question
Q:Does it work in irregular floor?
A:We have carpet, hardwood, also porcelain tile. So far we have clean floors everywhere. We are very pleased with our roomba. Good luck!
Q:I was thinking of getting the model 660, anyone have any reason why this one is better?
A:The 770 has a hepa filter and has dirt detect that has it work a spot until clean
Q:We have a Golden Retriever and she sheds a lot of hair. Is this good to get rid of pet hair?
A:Yes! I have 2 australian shepherds that shed constantly. This does a great job of picking up pet hair! The rollers are also easily removed and it comes with cleaning tools to remove the pet fur from the rollers!

Q:I have a 3900 sq ft house all on one floor with hardwood flooring. I also have multiple oriental rugs with fringe. Is this a problem?
A:Great question. We have 3500sq. ft. with both hardwood and area rugs with fringe, along with wall to wall carpet. This Roomba cleans all very nicely. No problems at this house.
Q:Does the roomba get tangled up in sheer curtains that hang to the floor? Thanks in advance.
A:only if they are actually touching the floor
Q:have anti tangle for electric cords?
A:It will avoid tangling with electric cords most of the time. If it does however, it will go into "anti tangling" mode and reverse brushes. I have seen that already. If unable to untangle it will stop and turn itself off, then wait for you to come home to the rescue. The more wires you remove from the vacuum area the better.
Q:how difficult is it to move the virtual wall sensors?
A:They are completely portable and easy to move around.
Q:batteries
A:Haven't had to replace any yet. Love our Roomba!
Q:My Roomba is acting strangely, hugging up against the wall and/or going around in circles. He seems confused. Anyone know what's up?
A:Usually when my Roomba does this, I have to stop it and turn it over and clean it. This usually helps out a lot. I have pets and the cat fur seems to clog it up and it goes round and round. Check underneath the bottom and see if that will help.
Q:Does the Roomba have the ability to "learn" the layout of your house for more efficient routing? If not, do any of its competitors have that ability?
A:From what I gather from the iRobot website and other things I've read, it does not (which explains why it will bump into an object more than once). iRobot states that it uses an algorithm to perform the function. There are other robo-vacs out there that do "map" the area but they are much more expensive due to storag…

There are other robo-vacs out there that do "map" the area but they are much more expensive due to storage of the data and the sensors needed to do it correctly. Also, it would make it difficult if you had more than one area that you ran the robo-vac in as it has no way of knowing what area it is in so it would probably have to re-map the area each time.

Q:How can you tell if its done cleaning vs if its battery needs recharging?
A:If it is done cleaning, it says "move to a new location" and shuts down. If it needs charging, it tells you to dock it and the battery shape on top turns red. When battery is completely charged, it turns green.
Q:Does it get stuck on or pull out the fringe of the Oriental carpets?
A:Probably will. We try to keep cords etc away He will get stuck and tangled on lots of things . We arranged things to suit his abilities . Still one of the best things I bought

Besides, a shag rug is more apt to collect dust due to the thickness of the pile. So you actually would want to have Roomba clean it even more. Don't worry if the dust bin fills up with just once cleaning, or even before the cleaning cycle is over (the red ! will light up), that's what it is for.About clogging, Roomba won't clog per se but you do need to clean the rolling brushes once in a while to remove hairs and whatnot from the brushes. Q:Does the 770 do more than 1 room? Do any of these? In other words, can it do a full level of a house?

Q:How well does Roomba work on Plank (or Floating) Vinyl?

Q:What does the three dot button do on the remote?

Q:how often do you have to empty it?
A:I have dogs thus I empty the bin every time after use. If your room is not very dusty, may be after several use ok. They will be a red light if bin is full.
Q:Does it work with 220V?
A:110
Q:is the roomba able to transition from area rugs to hard floors easily?
A:Yep. Mine hasn't had any issues. The only problems it would have is with shaggy rugs (which I don't have). Other than that the transition is seamless.
Q:Does Roomba work on unsealed concrete floor like in a garage?
A:I haven't tried it but it works wonderfully on hard surfaces like wood floors and tile
Q:does it go over hard floors and carpet?
A:Oh, yes. It travels well. The problem is that it leaves the edge of the floor dirty along the carpet edge. Not happy with mine.
