Q:Hi this TP-Link Archer C7, is this V2? Because i need to use with open WRT and has to be V2 thank you
A:I received a version 2.0 unit from Amazon on 3/4/2016, the loaded firmware was the most current (V2_1510104 last updated 10/14/15). According to the TP-Link website the current hardware version is 3.0
Q:Why do 2 different priced Routers have the same reviews? How is anyone supposed to know which Router you are reviewing?
A:Actually 4 different routers have the same reviews. At the top of each review it says which unit is being reviewed but it is a major PITA to try to read the reviews you are interested in. Amazon really needs to fix this since it just makes me at least go to other web sites for information and possible purchase.
Q:How's the range on the router?
A:I have this in the basement of a two story house and it goes all the way up the top floor fine. signal is very strong compare to the privious model from tplink I still have. If range is a problem, then this router will gives you that extra boost.
Q:Is this backward compatible with a/b/g/n devices??
A:Yes you there is a 2.5 ghz side for a/b/g/n and a 5ghz side for ac it will broadcast 2 ssid's
Q:Can anyone confirm what router version of the AC1750 is being sold by Amazon.com? There are v.1 and v.2 versions of this router.
A:This is not in reference to the firmware. From my understanding the internal wireless chip is different for version 1 and 2. That being said I can not say which one Amazon is selling but I would like to know as well. There are many complaints about the version 1 units which seem to be corrected in the version 2.
Q:If I buy this now will I get v1 or v2?
A:I received V2 and assume you will receive the same. Here is the website: http://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/?model=Archer+C7
Q:Can I purchase a longer cable and adapter for this router? The ones that come with the router are too short. What do I look for and where?
A:Only Cat5e and Cat6 support true Gigabit throughput on high-data transfers. Buy 5e for cheaper, or buy 6 for future proof cable. For Ethernet cable, you buy one of these:http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Snagless-Ethernet-Patch/dp/B007NZGPAY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1428705628&sr=8-3&keywords=cat+6+ethernet+cablehttp…

Q:does this router have or support DD-WRT
A:According to http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices DD-WRT does work
Q:How do I know which devices use n and which use ac?
A:TP Link Archer C7 AC 1750 is fantastic and Is working for me 3 monthes already without problems Before my the best friend recomended this device for me He is using it more than year and he is very HAPPY Don't worry Just buy it
Q:wall mountable
A:Yes.
Q:Is it V1 or V2?
A:no idea, wasn't aware there were 2 different versions. should track exact model number to their website for answer... or maybe its just a firmware update. unit has been working well so far.
Q:how do I get my hp envy 4500 printer to print
A:Download the drivers for the wireless part from HP.com.
Q:good for streaming?
A:We've cut the cord in my house. I have no problems streaming HBO, Netflix, etc to my ChromeCast.
Q:Some people say its ddwrt compatible, but i cannot see the router's name on the list of compatible routers on the website
A:Unfortunately, this is now V3, and the open firmwares all support only V2 so far. This is supposedly very similar to V2, but I think you will need to wait unless you are an early adopter and willing to possibly sacrifice your router.
Q:Can it be used as an access point?
A:Yes, if you disable DHCP.
Q:I have a very old imac from around 2004....still working! will this router have any issues? we use a cable modem provided by twc. thanks
A:I don't have a Mac but can't imagine it will. You will not get any benefit from the 802.11ac but the range with the 2.4 band is great.
Q:Can the AC1750 be used as an access point for another 1750?
A:Answer this question
Q:we are experience problems with Archer set up for mac I Phone and Ipad with DHCP how do we solve this matter
A:On either, select Settings icon. In settings select wifi. Once the two wifi networks show up (one for 2.4 and one for 5) show select and enter the router password/code (same for each). This is the same for any wifi network you wish to join. See apple.support.com for help.
Q:Do the router USB ports provide enough power for external storage devices?
A:Yes it can. I have a WD Passport 1TB hooked on the USB slot and it works fine. You just have to go to the router configuration table and enable the device under "USB settings" and you're ready to go! I have the TL-WDR3600 though but it's basically the same thing this specific router just has one more antenna.
Q:why does the C5 get better reviews when this one has betterwireless speed specs and costs less?
A:Reviews could be subjective. In WiFi world, newer is generally better.
Q:Does the power adapter have auto volt feature? 100-240V?
A:Answer this question
Q:Does this router support 802.11ac-2013 standard? (note this is renewed standard)
A:Yes
Q:My cheap N router often needs a reboot after big downloads. How often does this need to be power cycled?
A:My TP-Link Archer C7 started dropping the internet a month or so after purchase, but I just thought it was the local provider. Q:Will my HDTV work with this 5.1 home theater system?
A:I think you wrote this question on the wrong product. =)
Q:Will this support 30-40 devices on wireless at one time? Need for a church where many get on at one time but not a lot of people are streaming on it
A:It handles 4-5 devices streaming or online gaming at once for me but I have never tried as high as 30. If no one is watching video I could guess it would work.
Q:Wiin 10 compatible?
A:I am using Windows 10 on 2 computers connecting to my router wirelessly. Works well.
Q:Does this router have beamforming?
A:No this router does not have beamforming..
Q:220v or 110v?
A:Dual voltage, adapter indicates 100-240V~
Q:Can i use this on the 2.4GHZ only or 5GHZ only? Switching off the channel that is not in use?
A:Yes you can just use one or the other. You can also turn off the signal radio using a switch on the back of the router, if you wish
Q:How is the heat dissipation on the bottom of this particular model?
A:very minimal, I have it set on a laminate computer desk and the ambient temperature is stays in the range 80 to 88 degrees.
Q:is this moca compliant?
A:I run a MOCA network from this router to my TIVO box
Q:Can this router be used as a repeater or extender or access point ? Can anyone throw some light on either of these features available. Thanks
A:This router works well as a wireless access point. Read my review of this router, which explains how to do it.
Q:How many devices can this router handle before degredation?
A:It depends almost entirely on what demands the devices are placing on the network. Are the users doing occasional emailing or are they all streaming videos? There are other considerations such as frequency congestion, network conflicts, retransmissions, etc., but I suspect they aren't the focus of your concern.
Q:I only et 30 Mbps on a wireless signal on 75Mbps serv with my router. Did anyone notice more speed wirelessly with this router when you purchased it?

Reboot the router and see if your speed picks up. If that does not work plug your computer into your modem directly and run a speed test to ensure its not your service provider. If you get 75mbps when directly connected to the modem then try the following: Download an app called WiFi Analyzer this will tell you if you have other neighbors on the same channel. If so switch to a new channel (This is mostly an issue for 2.4ghz but you can change the 5.8ghz if you want too). Next log into the router and click "Wireless 2.4ghz" Make sure mode is set to "11bgn mixed" and the Channel Width is set to "40Mhz" this is also where you would switch your channel if you find neighbors are on the same channel. Click save then reboot the router. Good luck.

The vast majority of users wouldn't see any benefit from having what is basically a redundant system. However, you can still connect them by 1. Disabling wireless connectivity in the Arris. - 2. Connecting an ethernet cable between the WAN port on the TP-LINk and the PC port on the back of the Arris 3. Enabling bridging mode on the Arris. The Arris user manual is here: https://www.arrisi.com/support/documentation/user_guides/_docs/TG852G-NA_User_Guide_Standard1-4.pdf

I doubt it - I don't see 'VPN server' or 'VPN endpoint' listed as a feature and surely it would be listed. That is a feature you might find in a busness class router and probaly not a residential class router. I don't have this particular router so I can't say for sure.I know there are different types of Windows VPN's. I think the older/simpler one is PPTP which at least as of Windows7 still seems to be supported but just like everything easy I expect it to go away in favor of some horribly complex alternative (L2TP/IPSec). What I do is to run a PPTP server on Linux box behind the router and do the appropriate forards to the Linux box for PPTP. VPN protocols can be 'special' and not sure you can always forward them from the router, unless maybe using the VPN server as the DMZ host. But it would be more ideal if the router was itself the VPN endpoint. One way to accomplish this would be to run one of the third party firmwares such as openwrt or dd-wrt. I personally run openwrt on a WDR3600 and there is a PPTP server package but I personally haven't tried it. The openwrt website shows the AC1750 as a work in progress so it probably isn't the best choice right now for openwrt but it may be better supported by one of the others. It does look like a good choice based on Flas and RAM memory. Installing third party firmware especially openwrt isn't something for the technically challenged. If you were to run a third party firmware then openvpn may be a better choice because it is free and probably better supported by the open source community. However, I personally like the convenience of the Windows VPN so I have just used PPTP since it works and I don't have to install any additional software on the client.I generally don't need an actual VPN connection. Most often I can do just about everything with the port forwarding feature of SSH so I just expose the SSH server in my WDR3600 running openwrt to the internet - SSH is really quite powerful, although not as convenient as an actual VPN. The only thing I use the PPTP VPN for is my neighbor's business - that is where I have the PPTP server on a Linux box - I help out with their IT so when setting up a new computer I can do it completely at home with the VPN connection and only need to go there to physically install it.But everything else I can do with SSH and you can usually SSH through proxy firewalls which businesses often use to restrict, filter, and monitor internet activity - which I doubt you can do with a VPN. And since SSH is secure and quite powerful you can do just about anything you want from inside the firewall with the help of an SSH server on the outside.
