Also, for around $12 you can buy a PATA-to-SATA adapter, a small device which plugs onto the end of the IDE wide ribbon cable. On the back of the adapter is a SATA connector. If your computer has a SATA power cable, fine. If not, you'll need a short adapter cable to convert the old 4-pin Molex power lead into a SATA power plug (these are very inexpensive).
